Signs and symptoms: Light swelling and pain only after activity, normal temperature, Moderate decrease of active range of motion and painful at end of range, resistive painful
| | |
Physiology: Collagen remodeling – collagen fibers gradually replace granulation tissue, collagen starts to thicken.
| | |
Treatment goal: Mobilize – decrease adhesion and spasm, return to pain free and full range of motion, support strong pliable scar tissue, begin strengthening.
| | |
Treatment plan: Hydro – heat before activity or treatment and ice after; Massage – deep direct friction and myofascial release at site; Exercise – full stretching progressing to light resistive, avoid sharp pain.
