Physiology: Healing begins: decreased number of leukocytes; increased number of fibroblasts; repair tissue formed.

Treatment goal: Decrease pain, increase edema uptake, increase circulation, increate range of motion, encourage proper fiber alignment.

Treatment plan: Hydro - contrast, ice massage or cryoknestics (ice + active exercises); Massage - start at periphery with massage, may begin light cross fiber friction at site; Exercise - active stretching progressing to light resistive, avoid sharp pain.
